The Brand

Cult Furniture is a bold, trend-led interiors brand known for accessible, design-focused furniture with a personality. After years of rapid growth, Cult needed to replace their legacy ecommerce platform with a flexible and scalable Shopify Plus environment.
Cogent2 partnered with Cult to architect and deliver a high-performance, future-ready tech stack while BAO provided the design expertise for a best-in-class ecommerce experience.

The Challenge

Cult’s existing platform lacked visibility, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced business with complex inventory and supplier logic. Their operational needs were outgrowing their infrastructure, especially around order flows, financial reporting, and product data management.

Cult required:

  • A replatform to Shopify Plus

  • Integration between core systems including ERP, WMS & financials

  • Support for complex fulfilment logic including dropshipping

  • A move away from black box integrations toward visibility & control

  • Ongoing consultancy to plan for growth and avoid technical debt

The Solution

Cogent2 led the integration and architecture effort, working closely with Cult’s internal team, Patchworks, and design partner By Association Only. We handled solution design, configuration, project coordination, and technical roll-out.

Integration Architecture (Delivered via Patchworks):

  • Shopify ↔ Mintsoft ↔ Shopify
For order processing and dropshipping logic

  • Mintsoft ↔ Shopify
For inventory management, including pre-order and bundle stock

  • Shopify ↔ Sage200
For order and refund flow into financial systems

  • Custom Dropship Integrations
To support third-party suppliers and inventory syncing

  • Plytix as PIM
Used via Shopify as the hub for product content, flowing to WMS and ERP

Our Approach

  • Discovery & Consultancy
We worked with Cult to map out their tech landscape and business processes, identifying areas to optimise and platforms to extend.

  • Design & Architecture
Built a flexible, scalable system to support Cult’s multi-channel ambitions, without compromising performance or control.

  • Implementation & Integration
Managed the full technical delivery, including configuration, custom scripting, and cross-platform validation.

  • Programme Management
Oversaw key dependencies across design (BAO), fulfilment (Mintsoft), and finance (Sage200), ensuring a unified go-live.

  • Onsite & Remote Support
Provided launch-day support in partnership with Cult’s internal team and BAO, ensuring a smooth transition with zero disruption.

Outcome

  • Successful Shopify Plus replatform, delivered on time and with no major post-launch issues

  • Full control and visibility over data flows through Patchworks

  • Robust architecture to support both pre-order and bundle inventory

  • Clear roadmap for growth, including international expansion and multi-channel sales

  • Empowered internal teams to work confidently with their systems, not around them
