Cookie Policy
Last updated: 20 July 2026
This policy is under final legal review and may be updated before it is finalised.
This Cookie Policy explains how Cogent² (Cogent2 Limited) uses cookies and similar technologies on cogent2.com and in our platform. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site work, remember your session, and keep it secure. Similar technologies such as local storage do a comparable job.
The cookies we use
We keep our use of cookies deliberately minimal. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics tracking on our marketing site. The only third-party cookies we set are functional ones for live chat, and they load only on our contact page (see the table below).
| Category | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep the site working, remember your session, and support basic navigation and preferences. | Essential (no consent required) |
| Security and anti-bot | Protect our forms and site from automated abuse (a bot-detection challenge from our hosting or security provider). | Essential (no consent required) |
| Authentication (platform) | Keep you signed in to the platform and maintain your session securely. | Essential (no consent required) |
| Functional (live chat) | On our contact page only, a third-party live-chat tool loads so you can message us. It sets its own cookies to run the chat session and remember your conversation. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. | Functional (non-essential) |
Consent
Strictly necessary, security and authentication cookies do not require your consent because the site and platform cannot function without them. We do not use advertising or analytics tracking cookies on our marketing site. The live-chat cookies are functional cookies set by our chat provider on the contact page so we can respond to you; you can avoid them by not using the contact page or by blocking cookies in your browser. If we ever add analytics or marketing cookies, our cookie banner will ask for your consent first and will default to declining them until you choose otherwise.
Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Because our essential cookies keep the site and your session working, blocking them may stop parts of the site or platform from functioning.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the cookies we use. We will change the "last updated" date above when we do.
